Taxpayer-funded anti-sugar puritans at Public Health England should be disbanded
People against Sugar Tax has called for Alison Tedstone and her diet and nutrition team at Public Health England to be disbanded, and the savings put into other areas of government.
Alison Tedstone, who earns a taxpayer-funded salary of at least £65,000, and her team are currently overseeing the sugar reduction programme, which involves coercing food and soft drink manufacturers to reduce the sugar in their products.
We're paying these people large salaries just so that they can make our food and soft drinks taste like cardboard. An appalling misuse of public money.
Alison Tedstone and her team should either be re-deployed to other more important areas of government, or the team should be disbanded entirely.
