Has the Government notified the European Commission about the sugar tax?

People against Sugar Tax has written to the Treasury, asking them to clarify whether the Government has formally notified the European Commission about next year's sugar tax.

The Government is obliged to formally notify the Commission about the sugar tax, and a few months ago, there were some doubts about whether this process had begun.

We've written to the Treasury asking them to clarify this, as we're not entirely convinced that they've begun that process. Because 'Brexit' has dominated the work of government in recent months, we wouldn't be surprised if this issue has been overlooked.

Perhaps they could let us know.
